He LOVES car rides, chewing on Nylabones, and playing tug and ball. He can even be seen with a squeaky toy in his mouth while he walks around the house. He is completely housetrained with no accidents at all. He knows 'sit', 'speak', 'paw', 'stay', 'come', and 'lay down'. He likes to chill in his crate with the door open when his people are at home, and he will go into his crate on command as long as there is a treat inside waiting for him. Mikey sleeps in his crate when you tell him it's 'bedtime'. (New owner will be ... (Read More)given his crate from his previous family.) He sleeps all night without having to go out in the middle of the night. He does not chew anything he shouldn't, so he does not need to be confined to his crate but needs it for 'security'. The shelter is stressful for Mikey, so he is in a foster home with other dogs and kids. Even though he tolerates other dogs and cats, he does not need them to be happy. He does not 'play' with the other dogs unless he's barking at the young, crazy resident dog. He enjoys going for walks with his foster mom. Mikey enjoys going on family outings like the human kids' sports practices and games and hikes. He lets strangers, including children, pet him without a problem. He is a typical terrier who needs lots of attention and exercise. Mikey is 10years old but doesn't act like a senior. (Read More)terrified when I first arrived at the shelter (a stressful place for any animal) earlier this year so I look like a different dog in my pen, but as soon as I leave the shelter I AM A REALLY GREAT LOW KEY SMART SWEET DOG...those bad habits of pacing/barking in my pen all disappear. My human PK buddy ( a volunteer who spends extra time with me, takes me on outings etc.) says this is the only reason I haven't been adopted yet! I am looking for a calm predictable yet confident household of adults/maybe low key mature teenagers will be best. Younger kids are generally unpredictable and alot more busy, so that would be a little too much for me right now. I do love going on new adventures and meeting new people as long as I get slow patient intro's to everything: places, things, people, dogs...its all new to me. If you go too fast with me I get overwhelmed and start to shut down but I am getting so much better. So far I have done great at various parks in the Lehigh Valley, at my human PK buddies house and office, meeting new people and dogs and even chickens!....I just need someone to take their time with me and encourage me. And then after the adventure I like to come inside and curl up for a snuggle and a snooze, I don't like to be out tooooo long, especially if its raining or snowing (typical bully breed!). I just want to be a part of someone's life and I will thank you FOREVER!! Did I mention I was smart?? I know sit, paw and wait. I take food gently and you can stick your hand in my bowl. I am hungry, this anxiety thing is making me loose weight, but I am a total gentleman about food. I am working on down, give and leave it. My 'N' 'O' word is 'ahah' and we almost never have to use it and I stop right away when we do! I don't appear to be a repeat offender or a troublemaker of any kind outside of the shelter and I totally thrive with positive reinforcement. And, if you haven't noticed I am a real looker......totally adorable with a sleek shiny black coat, 4 white socks, one black and one white eye (hello Petey!)...and a few polkadots on my head. Adorable! When I first arrived at PK I didn't really know what this 'affection' thing was all about, my tail spent a lot of time under my belly and I was very tense with human touch...BUT NOT ANYMORE.....once I know you and after a slow intro at my pace, I loves me some pats and I have a waggy tail and a wiggle butt and I know how to give out way too many free kisses. A well balanced equal sized or larger low to medium energy doggie might be more than ok with an appropriate slow intro. Sally is pit bull around 7-9 years old and a super mush! She knows sit, paw and kiss. Yep she gives kisses freely and will take a treat in return so super gently. Winzy is a pocket pittie and sweet as can be! We estimate her age between 6-8 years old. Winzy prefers the relaxing life - you know, lounging on the couch and collecting sun rays in the grass. She's not much for walking or hiking but is all about the cuddles and kisses! Winzy is a big fan of playing dress up! Winzy prefers all the attention to herself though she will share it with little humans. A pet free home is ideal unless you are super dog savvy and have another lazy pup to match her energy. Don't mistake her ability to be a professional couch potato as her not being playful. This girl LOVES her toys and will move like lightning when she sees one! She loves them a little too much and will shred them if they aren't sturdy! Winzy enjoys the fun puzzle toys and nylabones that the volunteers have bought for her. Meet this little pocket pitty Phoebe! Phoebe is estimated to be around 1 year old. She's a beautiful blue pittie girl with an awesome personality. She was found as a stray and no one came to claim her. This girl is all wiggles and kisses! She's cute when you approach with a leash - she knows she's supposed to sit but her little butt wiggles her body around. She always greets with kisses and loves to snuggle! Phoebe is an amazing girl. She is a medium energy girl who loves to go for a walk and play but also loves to just snuggle by your side and hang out. She has no problem falling asleep on your lap too! Phoebe is very well behaved. She doesn't really jump and will stay off the furniture if you tell her too though she loves to hang out on the sofa with you. She sits very nicely for treats and takes them very gently. When you are eating she will also sit and lay down and only beg for food every once in a while ! Phoebe walks nicely on the leash and would make a great walking or running buddy. She is silly and playful and will happily amuse herself with toys. She has no problem with you taking the toys away from her either. She also has no problem with food being taken away from her. Phoebe also does great in the crate. Phoebe loves everyone she meets. She is a happy joyful girl who will happily greet anyone! She greets people very politely and does great with everyone. She is happiest when she is around people. Phoebe has also met and done great with kids. Phoebe has done well with other dogs but does need slow and proper introductions to them. Phoebe is spayed, microchipped, UTD on vaccinations, and HW and Lymes negative!
